An exile from his home world, wandering through space and time in his trusty TARDIS with his granddaughter Susan, the First Doctor appeared to be a frail old man. But don't be fooled. With a chuckle and a twinkle in his eye, he has an unquenchable thirst to explore, and a knack of getting himself into trouble doing it.
Sometimes doting, sometimes difficult, the First Doctor was both a loving father-figure and a fierce opponent. He played deadly games with the Celestial Toymaker, he fooled Roman emperors, Mongol warlords and French revolutionaries, and he foiled each and every machination of the evil Daleks. After preventing the Cybermen from absorbing the Earth's energy and with his body ‘wearing a bit thin’, the First Doctor collapsed to the TARDIS floor and began to change.
Total Mintage for each 11 Doctor Coin design is 4,000. 3,000 of each coin design will be released as sets. The remaining coins will be released individually.
REVERSE DESIGN
Each coin features a high quality colour reproduction of the Doctor. Behind him is a likeness of his nemesis engraved in 3-dimensional relief. This is surrounded by a finely engraved border design inspired by technology and time travel.
OBVERSE DESIGN
Each coin features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
PACKAGING
Each 1/2 oz Silver Coin is packaged in a blue presentation box with embossed silver foiled Doctor Who logo, and comes with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity issued by New Zealand Mint.
