1965 Louis Marx & Co. Ltd UK

Officially available in three colours – black, silver and red (released in 1966) – they stood about an inch tall and had detachable appendages. Their most distinctive feature was that they each contained a ball bearing in the base, which meant that they could glide down smooth inclines and be pushed along tabletops. Because of the modest price – only a shilling each – and the size of these toys, seaside arcade machines were filled with them. The Rolykins were amongst the most popular of all Dalek items, with over a million units sold by October 1965. Examples also exist of Rolykins with a heavy domed base, allowing them to sway about in place, but no further information is available on this variant.
